Wendy Urushima-Simmons
Wendy Urushima-Simmons has more than twenty years of experience in media, marketing, film, television and theatre. Currently she’s the Associate Executive Director of Development for the Center for Community Solutions. She worked for more than a decade as the Community and Media Marketing Manager at KGTV in San Diego where she was directly involved with the marketing, branding, pubic relations and community affairs for the station. In addition to her community affairs and marketing responsibilities behind the scenes, she is also comfortable in front of the camera, and has appeared in various station public service announcements and promotional spots. She has emceed hundreds of community dinners and is a frequently requested speaker, guest lecturer and panelist in the region. She has also worked as a weather and traffic reporter for Airwatch Traffic. In addition, Wendy has worked as an actor and model, and has appeared in local and national commercials, industrial videos, television shows, and various print ads as seen in USA Today, the LA Times and the Wall Street Journal. She has also won numerous awards including: Volunteer of the Year, North County Philanthropy Council, the MVP Award from the McGraw-Hill Companies, Member of the Year, Asian Business Association, Eleven Extraordinary Women Award, National Women’s Caucus, Forty under 40 Award, San Diego Metropolitan Magazine, and serves as a board member and volunteer for numerous San Diego agencies.
